The classes will consist of a warm up; up to a 30 minute activity session and a cool-down including a relaxation period. The instructor will be able to change different exercises depending on how you are feeling at each session. After each activity session, a specific topic will be discussed related to Breast Cancer and staying active.
At the end of the 12 weeks / 24 sessions you will be encouraged to continue with being active and your instructor will assist you in choosing activities that you will be able to join in with and enjoy. The classes take place for 1.5 hours twice a week at four Glasgow Club venues (link to Class Times and Venues page) within the city of Glasgow
You must complete an Active ABC Participant Information Sheet. This will ensure that your instructor can tailor the activity programme to be safe and effective for you. If you answer yes to any of the questions in section 1 unfortunately the Active ABC programme may not be the most suitable programme for you and therefore will not be eligible to participate at this point. You may wish to speak with a Health professional, if you want to participate in a physical activity programme as they will be able to discuss the most appropriate programme for you.
All you have to do then is take your completed Participant Information Sheet to your first class and hand it to the instructor on your first visit.
You will be asked to complete a joining form at the reception at the centre. This will enable us to activate an access card to your 24 sessions.
We advise that you wear clothing that you feel comfortable in and that is loose enough for you to exercise in without getting too hot. Footwear is important and should be well fitting, supportive and comfortable. The instructor will help you will all the rest.
